Avalon airshow

The Avalon airshow is nostalgic for me. It was one of the first things I did after coming to Australia in 2004. After a 4 year pause, the airshow returned in 2023.

I deeply admired the skills of the pilots then and still do now. There is something so free about seeing a plane grace the skies.

First up were stunt and vintage aircrafts. This takes me back to the Tyabb Airshow!

Most people dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot at some point. I certainly felt that way and I am 27. Nevermind I don't have 20/20 vision and have dedicated the first part of my career to data science. I am certainly on the lookout for a tandem fighter jet experience!

Many considered the Korean airforce team to be star of the 2023 acrobatics display. The show was narrated by the calming voice of Captain Kim. He often gave advice on where to look and on one occassion choreographed a low fighter jet flyover from the opposite direction giving everyone a thrill and semi permanent hearing damage.

An amazing team from Sweden were here to dance on a plane. The plane was formerly used to spray crops and is now living an exciting new life.

Other magnificent planes were also on display. For those interested it is possible to speak with the pilot and support teams behind these incrediable machines.

I think drones have an important part to play in the future of aerial warfare. They can be deployed in larger numbers, risk less lives and combat decisions have potential to be guided by AI.

Finally, there are also these fireworks which the crowd likes. I think they make the photos hazy.
